The option to save artboards as individual files appears when you use the "Save As" or "Save a Copy" command. Illustrator invokes the Selection tool by default when you choose the Crop Image option. Select the image you want to crop using the Selection tool ( ). You will notice the originally created artboard on the canvas. From the Preset dropdown list choose Fit to Selected Art. This opens up the Artboard Options Panel. Start by selecting the objects on the artboard and then click the Artboard tool in the Tools panel twice. When you save an Adobe Illustrator file that contains more than one artboard, you can save each artboard as an individual AI file, along with a document that contains all the artboards together. Crop an image Perform the following steps to crop an image: Choose File > Place, and select the image that you want to place. Step 1: You need to open an Illustrator project where you have to change the artboard size. Now you could go and grab the Artboard tool and start adjusting its size but there is an easier way.To hide an artboard's rulers, press "Ctrl-Alt-R." To access settings that display or hide these options, double-click on the Artboard tool in the Adobe Illustrator toolbox, and then access the Display section of the dialog box that opens. These attributes remain non-printing, regardless of whether you show or hide them. Artboards can display their own rulers, crop marks, center marks and video-safe area outlines.Hidden or not, their outlines do not print. Press "Shift-Ctrl-H" to hide them if they're visible and vice versa. The clipping mask will not remove the paths and points that are off the artboard it will simply hide them. When you use the dimensions of an Adobe Illustrator artboard to define the printable area of a graphic or illustration instead of applying a clipping mask, the artboard's edges remain visible while you edit and review your work in Illustrator, unless you use tell the program to hide them.
