I'm not saying that the intake gains massive power, nor am I saying it looses it. To say an intake makes no power or looses power on a dyno means nothing in the real world as the flow of air and the ram effect isn't present, as well as the fact that they also may not have the intake ducts fitted to increase air flow to the filter. It is there to increase the airs charging efficiency and to give torque and Horsepower gains at high speeds and in the high rpms (like what i said about the intake frequencies as well). The reason why people may be seeing a Loss is because the intake is not designed for low down power. Most likely gains over the stock intakes on civics.Why would a company make an intake that looses power? makes no sense to me. And losses have been achieved over the DC2R stock intake. Thats increase power in the higher rpms (in vtec)Įvery Honda tuner around here speaks how crap they are. I know not everyone likes this intake but it does do what its made for. Honda tuning is a weird scene and everyone has their own style so to speak. Its not the prettiest thing but it works. The frequency you get from vtec kicking in (yo) means it can pull in more air, reason why its designed like that. The reasoning behind its design and shape is to create a vortex type thing that will help swirl the air into the engine, think of a 2 stroke motorbike where to get it to go into power ban you need the exhaust resonation to be at the right frequency to extract the gasses to increase power (simplified version), this is applied to the intake but obviously on the other side. A proper Intake (ie Gutted out Intake box) with a good Cold Air Feed will give you good performance gains while not being in your face. Power wise their is gains from them (don't let others tell you there isn't since the stock intakes are restrictive) but for best street performance, you can do better.
